Patient Information: Usual dosing patterns

Diclectin® should be taken as prescribed by your healthcare professional. He or she may adjust the dosing schedule according to your condition.

Dosing strategy for full 24-hour control of symptoms for nausea and vomiting of pregnancy (NVP). (Diclectin® is a delayed-release formulation tablet.)
Take two (2) Diclectin* delayed release tablets at bedtime to control nausea and vomiting occurring in the morning
Additionally one (1) delayed release tablet in the morning
And one (1) delayed release tablet mid-afternoon to control symptoms throughout the day

Diclectin® is a delayed-release formulation that works optimally after 4 to 6 hours, and it should be taken on a daily basis. The delay in action may be prolonged when tablets are taken with food.

Diclectin® may cause drowsiness. Until you know how you will react to this medication do not drive or operate machinery.

Diclectin® should not be crushed or split.

Diclectin® does not contain lactose, gluten, tartrazine or sulfite.

Do not stop taking Diclectin® on your own. Your healthcare professional will gradually reduce your dose when stopping Diclectin® treatment to prevent a sudden return of nausea and vomiting symptoms.

Call the Motherisk NVP Helpline 1-800-436-8477. The counselors will discuss your Diclectin® dosage schedule with respect to timing, duration, severity and frequency of your symptoms.

Diclectin® is specifically prescribed for the control of your symptoms of NVP. Do not give it to others, even if they have the same symptoms, and you yourself should not use it for any other condition than the one for which it was prescribed.

If you are sensitive to any of the ingredients of Diclectin®, tell your healthcare professional about it before starting treatment.
